AT&T's ZTE Mobley Turns Your Car Into a Wi-Fi Hotspot

Starting Friday, AT&T and ZTE will begin selling their new plug-in vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot.

Available online and in AT&T stores, pick up the ZTE Mobley for zero down and a two-year agreement, or $100 with no annual commitment. The gadget allows up to five devices to connect to the Internet, and use hotspot data to surf the Web, play games, and watch videos.

Just plug the Mobley into your vehicle's on-board diagnostics (OBD) port, which are found in most vehicles built since 1996. The cord-free hotspot does not require charging cables; your car automatically powers the ZTE Mobley for an always-on Wi-Fi connection.

Built for everyone from families on long road trips to professionals who need constant access, the ZTE Mobley is "perfect for anyone on the go," Chris Penrose, senior vice president of AT&T Mobility's Internet of Things department, said in a statement.

Running a Qualcomm MDM9215 processor on AT&T's 4G LTE network, the device promises "fast speed and performance," as well as convenience—Wi-Fi is on when the car is on.

Add the ZTE Mobley to a Mobile Share Value plan for $10 a month, or combine it with a DataConnect plan, with monthly charges of $10 for 1GB or $30 for 3GB.
