The South Park Game That Never Was

The wildly popular cartoon comedy South Park has been the subject of several games. But at least one of them never made it to market.

Happy Console Gamer recently uploaded a video to YouTube (below) showing a South Park game that was never released. Believed to have been designed for the Xbox and PlayStation 2, the game was reportedly an open-world title developed by Buzz Monkey Software, which was acquired by casual-gaming company Zynga in 2012.

According to Happy Console Gamer, the early version of the unannounced South Park game was found on an original Xbox development kit purchased at a gaming event in Portland, Ore. It appears the title would have been available on the Xbox and PlayStation 2, and included driving and fighting modes, not to mention the game's top characters, including Cartman.

South Park holds a special place in the world of entertainment. The animated show, which airs on Comedy Central, features a range of beloved child characters engaging in adult humor. It has been widely compared to Family Guy, though the creators of South Park have argued that their offering is better than its chief animated competitor.

In the gaming space, South Park has been featured on several consoles. The first game, called South Park, made its way to the Nintendo 64 in 1998. The latest game, South Park: The Stick of Truth, launched last year on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PCs. A new South Park title is expected to hit store shelves in the second quarter.
