Overwhelmed by Facebook Birthday Wishes? Get the TL;DR Version

Though it's a good problem to have, going through all the birthday messages you get on Facebook — and responding to each one — is kind of a chore, right? Fortunately, the social network will now give you the "tl;dr" version of those well wishes, in the form of a video.

The day after your birthday, you may see a personalized video in your News Feed featuring some of the top wishes you received from friends and family on your big day, Facebook announced on Tuesday. The 45-second video shows "a magical birthday cake that lights up and comes to life, opening to reveal the top birthday posts and photos from your friends."

You can opt to share the video on your timeline to thank your friends all at once (saving a lot of time), or just keep it for your own eyes. Before sharing the video, you can easily edit the featured photos and posts, just in case Facebook accidentally included one from a frenemy instead of a bestie.

The feature is rolling out to people around the world this week. Note that you will only get one of these personalized birthday videos if you receive three or more posts and/or photos to your timeline on your birthday.

Facebook is, of course, super helpful for keeping track of friends' birthdays, and makes it easy to wish a friend well on their big day without going through too much effort. Facebook said that users posts more than 100 million birthday messages on the service every day.

In February, Facebook launched a feature within its iOS app, dubbed birthday video cam, which lets you record and share a quick, 15-second video on a friend's wall for their birthday. When you visit a friend's profile on their birthday, you'll see a banner near the top giving you the option to create a video for them.
