Have you been meaning to use Android Pay to purchase items with a swipe of your phone? If you're a Verizon customer, the carrier is giving you an extra incentive to try it out.
Verizon customers can nab up to 2GB of free data, good for two billing cycles, when using Google's mobile payment system. The first time you use Android Pay to purchase an item, you'll get 1GB of free data. The third time you use it, Verizon will throw in another free gig.
The deal is available now through June 14, and you must redeem your free data by July 13. As for the fine print, the promotion is only available to postpaid consumer subscribers on the Verizon Plan or the More Everything Plan within the US.
"You can use Android Pay at over 1.5 million locations (and counting…) across the US, everywhere tap-and-pay payments are accepted, including the places you shop and eat every day: Macy's, Peet's Coffee, Subway, Trader Joe's, Walgreens, Whole Foods, and more," Verizon wrote.
Android Pay is available on a range of Android phones running KitKat 4.4 and higher.
"Simply unlock your phone, place it near a contactless terminal and you're good to go," Verizon said. "It's that fast, that easy."
Android Pay earned a good rating in PCMag's review; we said it's quick and easy to use and praised the system for substituting actual card numbers with virtual ones to keep customers safe. On the down side, we found that it's still somewhat limited and lacks some features offered by the competition.
