Vertu Signature Touch Smartphone Starts at $9,000

English luxury phone maker Vertu unveiled a new handset that makes the iPhone 6s look like a children's toy.

The New Signature Touch promises high performance for just $19,000. Encased in handcrafted leather and titanium, the 5.2-inch Full-HD LCD display is protected by a solid, 130-carat Sapphire crystal screen.

Inside, Android 5.1 Lollipop powers Vertu's portfolio of services, which are complimentary for 18 months. That includes a Dedicated Concierge, who can arrange travel, accommodation, and dining, or find gifts for family and friends. Because, frankly, when you spend thousands on a smartphone, you can't be bothered to shop for anyone but yourself.

For the Hollywood A-list experience, sign up for Vertu's Life or Certainty packages, which turn your handset into an all-access pass to the most exclusive clubs in the world, invitation-only events, and closed-door shopping experiences. Who knows, you might even bump into a Kardashian.

A partnership with Silent Circle also means encrypted communications, and the Vertu Lost Phone service lets users lock, wipe, find, and call their device.
The New Signature Touch's back plate gull-wing doors open for access to the nanoSIM and microSD cards. Inside, there is also space for a personal engraving.

Available now to pre-order, the entry-level calf-leather model (in black or red) costs $9,000. Moving through the animal kingdom, lizard skin sells for $10,100 (purple) and $11,200 (black), while their alligator cousins go for $13,000 (black), $14,500 (navy), and $16,600 (grey).

For the big spenders, Vertu also offers the quilted black calf leather handset, with gold accents, for $19,000. Complement your New Signature Touch with an additional leather case, ranging from $560 to $2,780.

By comparison, the original Vertu Signature boasts a candybar-like, non-touch-screen device priced between $13,300 and $31,700.
