Sprint Offering iPhone 6s for $1 a Month

Thought T-Mobile's $5-per-month iPhone 6s promotion was a good deal? Rival Sprint on Thursday hit back with the announcement that it will offer the 16GB iPhone 6s for just $1 a month.

The catch is that you'll need to trade in an iPhone 6 to take advantage of this offer. As part of the promotion, Sprint is also offering the 16GB iPhone 6s Plus for $5 a month when you trade in an iPhone 6.

Those needing more memory will pay $5.77 per month for the 64GB iPhone 6s or $10.53 for the 128GB version with an iPhone 6 trade-in. As for the 6s Plus, you'll pay $9.77 a month for the 64GB model or $14.53 for the 128GB version with an iPhone 6 trade in.

The promotion — available through Dec. 31 — is part of the carrier's iPhone Forever program, which lets you upgrade to the latest Apple handset each year.
Meanwhile, if you're trading in an iPhone 5s, you can upgrade to the 16GB iPhone 6s for $10 a month or to the 6s Plus for $14 a month. Finally, you can turn in any other smartphone and get the 16GB iPhone 6s for $15 a month through Dec. 31, down from $22 a month without a trade-in.

"Once again it is clear that the best place to get the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is Sprint," Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said in a statement. "New and existing customers who trade in their current iPhone 6 can now get a device for only $1/month, making it the best way to get the iPhone — and a yearly upgrade is included in this charge. We are certain that more people will continue to switch to Sprint because of the great service and value we offer."
