Skyping on the go just got a lot easier for Android Wear users.
This week's launch of Skype 6.4 for Android brings new ways to manage conversations on the Moto 360, Huawei Watch, LG Watch Urbane, and Asus ZenWatch.
Indulge your spy fantasies by composing, reading, and responding to messages directly from your wrist. When you're in a hurry—rushing to the roof of a speeding train to battle the bad guy—just select from a set of pre-written responses, or draw on the watchface and respond with an emoji.
And if the boss—or your spouse—calls during your big fight scene, one tap of the wearable declines incoming audio and video calls. Also accept calls via the Android Wear device, then pick up your smartphone to continue the conversation. While on a call, use your wrist to mute, hang up, or pause.
Download the latest version of the app for free in the Google Play store. And leave feedback under the Support section; who knows, maybe the Web giant will consider your request for a shoe phone.
Earlier this month, Skype revamped its Android and iOS apps, rolling out Skype 6.0 with simpler navigation and enhanced search and messaging.
The Android version features a "floating action button" that lets users start a new video or audio call, text chat, or video message. On iOS, you can use swipe gestures to make calls and manage messages. There's also a new "recents" tab for Apple users to search messages and find contacts and groups.
Mojis—or short clips from movies and TV shows—are also new on all Skype platforms. Just tap the emoticon icon to browse Mojis by movie or expression, ten drop one into your chat and let the clip speak for itself.
