Pick Up GoPro's $199 HERO+ on Oct.

GoPro's new entry-level camera lets adventurers capture more content for less money.

On sale Oct. 4 for $199.99, the waterproof and mountable HERO+ captures 1080p60 and 720p60 video, as well as 8-megapixel single, time lapse, and burst photos.

It also boasts Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, allowing users to sync their camera with GoPro's mobile app to edit, trim, and share content via social media channels.

The latest installment in the 2015 GoPro lineup, HERO+ joins the original HERO ($130), HERO+LCD (with touch display for $300), HERO4 Session ($300), HERO4 Silver (with touch display for $400), and HERO4 Black ($500).

"Whether mounted to a weather balloon floating 100,000 feet above the earth to capture a sunrise across the stratosphere or in the hands of a child recording their backyard tree house adventures, HERO+ is built to capture your imagination wherever it takes you," CEO Nicholas Woodman said in a statement.

With a single button, power on the camera and begin recording, then use the HiLight Tag to mark key moments during capture. Turn on SuperView for a wide-angle field of view, while Auto Low Light mode automatically adjusts frame rates for optimal low-light performance.

The HERO+ also comes with a built-in microphone, and is compatible with GoPro's various mounts and other accessories.

For a pricier device, GoPro recently introduced its $15,000 Odyssey stereoscopic panoramic capture rig, designed for virtual reality devices. Its 16 synchronized Hero4 Black cameras record 360-degree 3D spherical footage in 8K30 video, optimized for Google's new Jump VR platform.

Those operating just one GoPro 3 or 4 camera, meanwhile, can now broadcast live video to the iOS-based streaming Meerkat app.
