Order, Pay for Your Starbucks on Mobile

Stop waiting in line at Starbucks: The coffee chain is rolling out its digital order-and-pay feature across the country.

Order and pay for your tall blonde roast with milk and a shot of hazelnut, and blueberry yogurt muffin with honey from your bed. Then just pop into a local store, pick up your breakfast, and clock in at work on time.

"Bringing Mobile Order and Pay to our customers is about meeting their needs of convenience and customization at any time of the day," Starbucks CTO Adam Brotman said in a statement.

Following initial testing in Portland, Oregon in December and a launch across the Pacific Northwest in March, Starbucks expanded its program to 3,400 additional stores across 17 states earlier this summer. Today's announcement marks the completion of the U.S. rollout, with the feature now available on iOS and Android at more than 7,400 Starbucks from coast to coast.

Housed inside the official Starbucks app, Mobile Order and Pay users can choose a store from the map view, browse the menu (complete with area-specific products), customize beverage and food items, view the order's estimated time frame (three to five minutes, depending on time of day), and pay for an order.

Starbucks plans to introduce this feature in select company-owned stores in Canada and the U.K. next month.
Don't get so excited about your favorite sugary, whipped cream-topped concoction, however, that you forget to secure your mobile app. In May, poor password management put the credentials of some Starbucks customers at risk.

On a lighter note, Lyft and Starbucks in July partnered to give drivers and passengers access to the My Starbucks Rewards program.
