Rumors abound over Google's new Nexus smartphones, and the most recent leaks offer details about their possible monikers.
The first, built by LG, will be known as the Nexus 5X, while the other, developed by China-based Huawei, will be called the Nexus 6P, according to Android Police, which got its hands on images of phone boxes sporting those names.
The rumor mill has been churning out reports on a near daily basis over the last several weeks over what Google may offer in its next line of Nexus handsets. LG's Nexus device will reportedly come with a 5.2-inch screen, while the Huawei device will have a 5.7-inch display, according to reports.
In a separate post, Android Police said the Nexus 6P would feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and come in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB versions. It will also have a USB-C port for charging, according to the report.
New Nexus devices typically come with the most recent version of Android, so both handsets will like be pre-loaded with Android Marshmallow.
The Nexus line is sold by Google but manufactured by OEM partners. They typically attempt to compete with other flagship handsets, but appeal to Android purists who like the stock Android experience and prefer not to have their phones bogged down by bloatware. Google, like Apple, releases its Nexus devices each year in the fall to capitalize on the holiday shopping season.
Google and its device makers have remained tight-lipped on any plans they may have, deciding instead to make their announcements at a special press event on Sept. 29 in San Francisco. PCMag will be at the event, so stay tuned for all the details.
