Download Amazon Prime Instant Video Content for Offline Viewing

Heads up, Amazon Prime members. Now, a little problem like getting disconnected from the Internet won't have to stop you from binge watching the latest season of Transparent.

That's right: Amazon Prime Video is going offline. Amazon on Tuesday announced that you can now download movies and TV episodes from Prime Video to your iOS and Android devices for offline viewing when you don't have an Internet connection. The feature won't cost you anything extra, but it's only available to those in the U.S., U.K., and Germany for now.

This makes Prime Video the only subscription streaming video service that lets you download titles for offline access, Amazon said.

"Unlike other subscription streaming services such as Netflix, Prime members can enjoy movies and TV shows as part of their membership even when they don't have an Internet connection available," the Web giant added.
This means you won't have to miss a minute of Downton Abbey, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, or Girls when you're riding the NYC subway to work or cruising at 39,000 feet.

"There's no doubt that the way people watch entertainment is changing—anytime, anywhere viewing is important and we are excited to provide our Prime members with offline viewing capabilities on iOS and Android platforms starting today," Amazon's Vice President of Digital Video, Michael Paull, said in a statement. "We are proud to be the first and only online subscription streaming service that enables offline viewing—on vacation, in a car, at the beach, on a plane, wherever our Prime members want to watch they can, regardless of internet connection."

Download the latest version of Amazon Video for iOS or Android to try the new offline feature.
